I invite you to the workshop, where you can look at the finished work, create something with your own hands and discuss the sketch of the author’s project.
Me and my Mission
My philosophy of life as well as love for the world find their way in my ceramic forms. It is life itself that inspires me most and is an endless source of the topics for my creations. Thus, a frequent character of my stories is the woman, ceramics being the best means of conveying the beauty and sensuality of her body.
Thanks to the academic education of graphic artist that gave me a thorough understanding of tone and composition, my ceramic forms combine not only formation and dimension but also graphic features.
The birth of a new piece of art is a deeply mysterious process. Its components – the mystery of the fire, long meticulous work, expectations, sometimes unpredictable outcomes – create a unique attitude to work, the one characterized by unconditioned allegiance and devotion.
Contemplating on my mission, I define it as a desire to bring together the man and the art, to show how comprehensible art is, and to prove how essential it is in everyone’s life. This is achievable by means of the language of ceramics.
2019 saw the foundation of Olivka, the ceramics open workshop where I teach adults and children. Since its opening it has become a welcoming home to talented artists, making different objects out of clay, interacting together, and organizing as well as participating in various creative events.
A number of my apprentices continue working and developing in the ceramic sphere after leaving Olivka. Work in Olivka is an endless process of passing on the love to beauty, arts and creativity.
The fascinating route of making utilitarian objects has gradually brought me to creating genuine pieces of art. Such objects have no practical value, but rather philosophical meaning, enriching the inner world of the viewer.
The intended-by-the-artist effect and idea of an art object can gain new senses, be further developed and interpreted differently by the viewer, based on their experience and world perception.
My parents being artists, I grew up in the workshops full of paints and canvases. I went to 2 Art Schools, graduated from Art School and Moscow State Polygraphic Institute (2002), the faculty of graphics with a degree in graphic arts production (Graphic Artist). I have been an apprentice in Dew Drop ceramic workshop (Tatiana and Alexander Buzlanov), done a course at New Ceramic School (mentor Tatiana Punans). Currently, I am doing the Masters at Moscow State Stroganov Academy of Industrial and Applied Arts on the faculty of Studio Art Ceramics.
